Dullstroom may be the smallest finalist in this year’s competition – but there is very little that this gem does not offer. Set 2000m above sea level in the heart of the Highlands, amidst some of the countries prettiest landscapes, this village is home to sparkling clean rivers and dams that attract fly fishermen from near and far and keep them coming back.
But other than the obvious fishing and crackling fires, Dullstroom has something for everyone of every age, and we are NOT kidding!
Starting with country trails for walking, running and cycling; abseiling; zip lining; skeet shooting; horse riding; hiking and trapeze jumping… we are already out of breath!
If less strenuous outdoor activities is your thing, then bird and game watching should be on your agenda and of course no one can miss the Bird of Prey centre for a visit and to support their conservation efforts. A round on the Ernie Els designed Highland Gate Golf Course is a must for any golfer while their better halves treat themselves to luxury spa treatments, spa afternoons or why not a full spa day with their besties ;)
Let’s not forget Dullstroom’s bustling town for really important retail therapy with beautiful boutique shops filled with leather goods, antiques, clothes, shoes, works of art, and other locally made or designer must haves for your home.
Besides all the goodies tempting the taste buds from chocolates, cheeses, whisky, craft beer and coffee; Dullstroom has an amazing social vibe being surrounded by awesome bars and old style pubs. We are also so proud of our culinary prowess with many different dining experiences on offer and amazing online reviews from near and far to prove it.
So, we’ll keep you updated and we will remind everyone when the sms ‘gates’ are open to start voting. Please feel free to share with your friends and we hope to see you soon…
